Meet the family
STEVE NORRISCHIEF DISTILLER
Steve Norris, our distiller and taster-in-chief, describes himself as ‘tangled up in the land’. He lives in Young where all of the Bluestill spirits and liqueurs are made in an old jam factory. He is a local stone-fruit farmer with over 20 years’ experience distilling. As Steve says, ‘if it’s not the best, it’s not going in a bottle’.
ROD, SANDY NORRISYOUR HOSTS
Rod (Steve’s son) and Sandy are the heart of Ruby’s, running the Bowral store and introducing customers to the regions finest local produce. They both lived and worked in Sydney returning to a country lifestyle that they were brought up in. Rod and Sandy are dedicated to helping you find your perfect Ruby’s tipple.
RUBY THE ORIGINAL STILL
What a beauty. She’s our first and finest still. Ruby was hand-forged 1995 by Bosco, a Bosnian copper-smith who emigrated to Australia. Ruby started life transforming Young’s juiciest plums into slivovitz, a traditional plum brandy. Up until her recent retirement Ruby’s 200-litre frame was responsible for most of our fruit liqueurs.
